The minuets of the meeting held on 20 January were taken as read.
Social Activity
The rugby game at the end of December was considered to be an overwhelming success. Thanks was passed to Ben Whinney and Will Helliwell who did a magnificent job in organising the event. In the order of 1000 attended the game and £3,555.57 was raised and shared between two charities (Child Bereavement UK and The Brain Tumour Charity). The Head Master shared the article from the Newsletter regarding the event.
Going froward the discussion centred around:
- Christmas is a good time of the year; however weather could significantly affect the event.
- Christmas Diner will be 10 December 2022
- Disentangle this from the Old Boy’s Christmas Diner.
- Easter would be a good time as the weather could be better and some current students may be available.
- Venue was good but Kesteven were not as prepared as expected for the numbers. How do we have the PTFA market for the KSOB?
IN the summer there is the intention to run a large event for current and future parents by the PTFA. Provisional Date – Cricket 08 July and PTFA event 09 July. [Warning the Starlight Rugby Club event is on 2 June].
The Website
A number of meetings had taken place with regards the website. A new Instagram page was now being run by the school and it was proposed that this was added to the KSOB website and an email encouraging Old Boy’s to follow the Instagram site sent.
Branding
In 2028 the school will celebrate 500-year anniversary. In 2027 it is 300 years since the death of Newton. 2026 will be 125 year of the Old Boy’s Society (born 1901). With these large events on the horizon the suggestion was to rebrand as the Kings School Alumni on 01 January 2023.
Finances
£11,996.61 in hand in the bank.
Ties – enough in reserve for 2 to 3 years.
Current Students
The chairman will give his speech in person in May to the Year 13 leavers.
All levers will be asked to shar their email via the Old Boy’s Platform in exchange for their tie.
AOB
The Head master publicly thanked the Chair for his reading in the School’s Christmas Carol Service.
Next Meeting
The AGM will be held on 25 April 2022
