THE KINGS SCHOOL GRANTHAM OLD BOY’S SOCIETY
Minutes of a meeting of the Committee held at the School on 27th September 2016
Present

Minutes from the last meeting and matters arising
A Cousins noted that the main cricket match v The School was held on the 30th June. With this addition, the minutes of the previous meeting, which had been circulated to the Committee, were unanimously approved by those present. All matters arising were noted on the agenda for the meeting.
Report of the President
The President reported that he had attended the Leavers function, gave a well-received address and handed out the KSOBS ties to those present. The stock of ties, however, were not sufficient and now that a new batch has been received, N Whales is to find out how many more are required and obtain them from the Treasurer and pass them on.
Report of the Hon. Secretary
Due to the absence of the Hon. Secretary, there was no report
Report of the Hon. Membership Secretary
The HMS reported on the current membership of the Society
Report of the Hon. Treasurer
The HT gave a brief report confirming the financial position of the Society. The HM said he would ensure that Su Orrey contacted the Treasurer so that the Old Boys Prizes could be given out on Speech Night on the 12th October 2016. The Treasurer stated that we need to order some more ties so we have enough for next year's leavers. Michael Barney said that he might be able to source some via the Anny and the Treasurer is to send him a sample.
Report of the Headmaster
The HM reported that the purchase of the Church Hall had been completed but the exact use of this additional area is still to be finalised.
The A-level results were disappointing overall but the GCSE results were very good and above expectations.
Items and reports for discussion and action
M McLean is to forward a letter to all the e-mail addresses on the system informing them that the website is up and running and asking people to register.
It was thought that we have an obituary section on the website as well as a donations/legacy section.
Michael Barney is keen for any articles to be sent to him for input onto the website. The Treasurer is to forward the KSOBS Golf report.
The Annual Dinner is to be held on Saturday 17tll December 2016 at the Old School
The rugby will take place on the day of the Dinner and it will be a 1 o'clock start. As there is no house rugby before, one barrel of beer will be provided and A Cousins will organise.
The arrangements for the football matches are still to be finalised
A Cousins reported that the Cricket Matches all went exceptional well with 23 Old Boys participating over the various games including The President who excelled with a Boycottesque innings.
Nick Lawson is to try and locate a signwriter to rectify the errors on the board.
The Treasurer is to produce certificates for Les Stewart, Vic Heppenstall and Dick Liversidge, who are all Honorary Life Members but have not received a certificate. The President also put forward to the meeting that Mike Argyle should be proposed as a Honorary Life Member.

Annual Dinner
- The Headmaster is to contact and book the caterers
- The Treasurer is to contact Belvoir Bars
- The President is to find a speaker for the evening
- The price will be £35 per head and the amount reduced for concessions will be calculated once we know the cost of the catering
- It was decided that we did not require live music as this would take up space that could be used for additional attendees

Rugby

The rugby will take place on the day of the Dinner and it will be a 1 o'clock start. As there is no house rugby before, one barrel of beer will be provided and A Cousins will organise.
